The research focussed on “Turkey’s Role in the Eurasian Gas Politics”. I was also paid a stipent during the internship period.

Solely responsible for conducting the supervisory activities regarding the petroleum products market in six Turkish provinces. Performed the investigations of over one hundred petroleum companies operating in Turkey including multi-nationals. Gave lectures to over two hundred field auditors about the fundamentals of Petroleum Market Law and its implementation as far as the auditing activities concerned. Delivered oral presentations to the various public agencies outlining the structure of petroleum products market in Turkey and the investigations conducted by EMRA. Contributed to the composing of several regulations and by-laws regarding petroleum products market in Turkey which are being implemented countrywide today.

ENERGY MARKET REGULATORY AUTHORITY 2003-2006

Assistant Energy Expert-Department of Auditing and Supervision
Participated in an intensive job training program including petroleum, electricity and natural gas markets. Assisted the auditing and investigation activities that had been conducted country-wide regarding the energy markets by EMRA. Participated in an intensive 3-month training program at the University of Houston’s Institute for Energy, Law and Enterprise (now Center for Energy Economics at the
UT-Austin). The program focused on energy value chain economics, regulation and deregulation in energy markets, market restructuring, value chains of electricity, natural gas and petroleum markets, and geopolitics of energy. Study visits included the Department of Energy, FERC, Texas Railroad Commission and various public agencies and energy companies in the U.S. Prepared a thesis for energy expertise named “The Structure the Auditing of the Newly Liberalized Petroleum Products Market in Turkey” (In Turkish) and submitted to EMRA Board.
